What to expect from OT with Simone Emery?

My tailored occupational therapy programs for children are build on a foundation of gold-standard evidence and a holistic approach to understanding the environments and people your child engages with. I focus on boosting their confidence and we collaborate to design ways to make practical progress. I work alongside children, parents, carers and educators to understand each child’s strengths, interests and goals, then build strategies for play, learning and self-care. I don't believe in a cookie-cutter model of therapy for each child.

Therapy can start with everyday routines—such as brushing teeth or getting ready for school—and grow into child-led projects, like preparing a three-course meal or establishing tailored study routines for high school.

Our family-centred support can include after hours telehealth sessions, group programs and home/community visits. I am particularly passionate about using the child's preferred communication to develop their self-advocacy skills. I am also certified in CO-OP (cognitive orientation to occupational performance) along with having over a decade providing in responsive feeding therapy. Both of these programs complement my child and family focused approach to helping your child meet their goals.

Services by Simone Emery, OT

Are you looking to boost your child's confidence in the way they play and learn, whilst becoing more independent in their self-care and everyday routines?

My approach to Occupational Therapy is practical, child-led and family centred, with visits at home and in educational settings across Glen Eira, Kingston and Bayside. Telehealth sessions are available for parent support and for clients out of the Melbourne area. Clients access services by paying privately, with medicare plans or with NDIS funding (planner and self managed clients).

Assessment and personalised therapy

Comprehensive assessment helps us understand your child’s strengths, needs and goals. Together with your family, we create practical strategies for your child's participation goals. This can include dressing, brushing teeth, handwriting, morning and evening routines, mealtimes, sleep, play, learning (...and sooo much more!)

Home and educational setting visits

I provide therapy at home, school, day care/kinder or out in community, helping children practice skills where they matter most. Visits are available across the Glen Eira, Kingston and Bayside local council areas of Melbourne, Australia.

Responsive approach to feeding therapy

Eating is a co-occupation, involving your child and their caregivers. It is multi-faceted and, when supported with therapy that fosters a responsive approach, honours the child's autonomy, provides strategies to parents and increases mealtime harmony. A tailored program often involves parent sessions along with skill building and food learning sessions for your child.

My Confidence Project

My signature group program for 10-14 year olds focusing on their own project. Using coaching and body doubling to help them steer toward their goal and master many skills along the way. A great blend of social skills and independence to build their confidence.
